What I’m Wearing This Summer (And Why I Stopped Overthinking It)

Linen, Birkenstocks, a signature scent, and nails that make me happy every time I look down.

I used to approach summer dressing with this low-grade anxiety: like I needed to have it figured out, have the right things, look intentional without looking like I was trying. And at some point this year I just… let that go.

Summer dressing is not that complicated. Comfortable things that look pretty. A scent that makes you feel like yourself. Nails in a color that makes you smile when you glance down at the steering wheel. That’s the whole formula.

Here’s what’s actually in my summer rotation right now.

The linen pants I wear on repeat

I have become a linen pants person and I’m not apologizing for it.

These Faleave wide leg palazzo pants are the ones I reach for constantly: farmers market mornings, casual dinners on the porch, any errand where I want to look like I tried without actually suffering. They’re cotton linen, they have pockets, and they have that floaty wide-leg silhouette that somehow looks polished even when you’re just walking the Frenchies around the yard.

I style them with everything. They’re doing a lot of work this summer.

The tank that goes with everything

A good ribbed tank is a summer essential I will die on this hill about.

This wide strap ribbed crop tank is the one I’ve been pairing with the linen pants constantly: it’s fitted without being tight, it’s elevated without being fussy, and it tucks in beautifully or can be left out. It comes in so many colors that I ended up buying a few. It’s the kind of top that makes the rest of your outfit look more intentional just by being in it.

The sandals worth every penny

I resisted Birkenstocks for longer than I’d like to admit. And then I tried them and understood immediately why everyone has been trying to tell me.

The Birkenstock Arizona Big Buckle in Light Rose is the one. The color is that perfect soft blush that goes with everything in my summer wardrobe, the big buckle feels elevated compared to the classic, and the footbed; the footbed is genuinely life-changing. Your feet don’t hurt. You can wear them all day. They look better the more you wear them.

Yes, they’re a splurge compared to a basic sandal. They’re worth it. Your feet will thank you by August.

The scent that means summer

Fragrance is the most underrated part of a summer wardrobe. You can have the perfect outfit and still walk into a room the same way you always have, or you can smell like a Mediterranean afternoon and completely change the energy.

Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana is my summer signature and has been for years. It’s fresh and clean and a little citrusy and it never feels heavy in the heat. It’s the kind of scent that makes people ask what you’re wearing in the best possible way. I keep a small bottle in my bag and a larger one at home and I don’t plan on changing this anytime soon.

If you’ve never had a signature summer scent, this is a beautiful place to start.

Nails that make me happy

I will never underestimate what a fresh set of nails in the right color does for my mood. It’s one of the smallest investments with one of the biggest daily returns.

This summer I’m alternating between soft yellow and baby blue, two colors that feel cheerful without trying too hard, and that look beautiful against a summer tan. I’ve been wearing China Glaze Holy Sugar for the yellow: it’s the perfect pastel, not too bright, not too muted, and the formula goes on smooth with good coverage. It makes me smile every time I look down at my hands and that’s exactly the point.

The whole point

Getting dressed this summer doesn’t have to be complicated. You don’t need a whole new wardrobe or a perfect formula. You need a few things that feel like you, comfortable enough to actually live in, pretty enough to feel good in, and intentional enough that you’re not just throwing things on and hoping for the best.

Linen pants that move beautifully. A tank that works with everything. Sandals that don’t hurt. A scent that makes you feel like the main character. Nails that make you happy every time you look down.

That’s a summer wardrobe. That’s enough.

What’s your summer wardrobe non-negotiable? Tell me in the comments, I’m always looking for new additions.
